DOMAINE BOUSQUET VIRGEN MALBEC – AU NATUREL

Fully organic with no added sulfites, we review the Domaine Bousquet Virgen Malbec.

100% Malbec from rom estate vineyards at 4,000 feet of altitude in Tupungato, Alto Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine does not spend any time in oak, is vegan friendly and has just 1.58 g/L of residual sugar.

The wine is also fully organic which means that not only does it use organically grown grapes, but the winemaking process is certified organic as well so there are no added sulfites.

Sample submitted for review. The Domaine Bousquet Virgen Malbec has an SRP of $13 and is available for as low as $10. It is imported by WISD LLC.

From the bottle:

Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina’s exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1200 masl. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic.

Virgen is the most pure expression from our terroir. With only natural occurring sulfites, Virgen is a well-balanced Malbec with rich and pure fruit flavors. Tons of red and black fruits as raspberry and blackcurrant make it ideal with red meat and pasta dishes.

Produced and Bottled by Domaine Bousquet
14.5% Alcohol

The fully organic 2020 Domaine Bousquet Virgen Malbec begins with lots of deep dark fruit aromas including plum and grape.

Taking a sip reveals a fresh, tart and tasty wine with tons of juicy dark berry fruit. Very flavorful, it’s almost a bit like pomegranate juice at first sip. And while there is no oak aging, it is still a bit tannic.

A smooth mouthfeel leads into the dry, grippy, quite long and lasting finish.
